<p>UX seems to be everywhere today. Large and small companies are learning the importance of it trough achieving better success if they dedicate more time understanding the user needs.</p>
<p>But personas, wireframes and workflow prototypes are not enough when you start UI implementation. Everything will end up in code, and if that segment of the UX is not taken care of, your hard UX design work might be wasted.</p>
<p>Although, the interactivity and desired visual appearance can be achieved with non-accessible client side output, or at least with screen-reader friendly or ARIA equipped markup, the final experience we are offering for accessibility is still poor and not of much help for users in need.</p>
<p>It is not enough to just read the navigation or page. It might be good enough for a blog or news page with static and linear content, but for web applications, tablet and mobile applications (direction it seems we are heading to) &#8211; <strong>it just doesn&#8217;t work</strong>.</p>
<p>We need designed workflows and audio interfaces that offers smooth experience for the users in need. Bombarding the user with audio output by just reading the whole page word by word is totally useless. Closest we should get in desigining and implementing accessible user experience are the traditional telephone bank services  (the best practices, of course, there are some bad ones out there as well). Your markup should be able to offer this alternative layer of accessibility and user experience, you just need to write it with accessible user in mind, or develop alternative audio widgets for your framework.</p>

<p>Writing, or should I say tracing this post on <a href="http://www.android.com/">Android</a> <a href="http://danroundhill.com/wptogo/">wpToGo</a> app. Since i moved from <a href="http://www.htc.com/www/product/g1/overview.html">G1</a> to <a href="http://www.google.com/phone">N1</a>, only thing I miss is the fast typing physical keyboard. Soft keys are not cutting it for me.</p>
<p>When I say physical, I mean full qwerty keyboard in comfortable landscape model. Small squeezed keys found on some devices are even worse then the soft ones.</p>
<p>But, a friend suggested <a href="http://www.swypeinc.com/">Swype</a> to me, and I was amazed from the creative approach by the developers, implementing an oldish but valuable <a href="http://news.cnet.com/New-age-keyboard-Trace,-dont-write/2100-1041_3-5783580.html">IBM research</a> introducing new way of typing by tracing your words on the soft keyboard. Writing the post with this input method I&#8217;m more then impressed with its usability. The learning curve is very short, just after writing two tweets you get familiar with it. Word accuracy is excellent, offering choice of suggested words if your trace was a bit crazy.</p>
<p>Small downturn is you have to switch off autosuggestion if you want to type in different language then English. There are many users like myself using English as first language but with need to communicate with second language without switching keyboard layouts, although if your language is supported on the device, Swype offers very easy switch between the available keyboard layouts.</p>
<p>Turning your device to landscape mode will give you an error, but this is still <a href="http://droidmuff.in/downloads/swype-preview/">trial version and not official release</a>, so this iI completely forgivable. Having said that, I&#8217;m thinking how tracing can be implemented with two thumbs combination when turning the device in landscape mode. I leave that challenge to creative developers of the very usable Swype keyboard.</p>
<p>This input method is also a good accessibility potential. Adding TTS and speaking out selected keys while tracing and speaking out the word to be inserted, can make this keyboard a good companion to apps designed to utilize assisting technology available on the latest Android <a href="http://developer.android.com/sdk/android-2.0-highlights.html">releases</a>.</p>
<p>Wonder if this method will be used on the much <a href="http://www.appletablet.net/apple-tablet-release-date/">speculated tablet</a>.</p>

<p>Патот го одвел до Tangozebra, која беше купена од <a title="DoubleClick" href="http://doubleclick.com">Double Click</a>, кој, пак, беше купен од <a title="Google" href="http://google.com">Google</a>, а тој цело време работи на еден ист проект</p>
<p>Ѓокица одамна не живее во Македонија. Секако, ние го сретнавме додека беше тука, на гости. Го замоливме да ни раскаже дел од својата приказна. Делот поврзан со неговата професионална кариера, личниот развој и искуство во светот на интернет-рекламирањето. Ексклузивно за Click тој зборуваше на неколку прашања. На крајот на интервјуто ќе пронајдете информации како вие да му поставите прашање на Ѓокица.</p>
<h3>Се бара нов хелиум</h3>
<h4>За пазарот и за новиот почеток</h4>
<p>Интернетскиот бизнис-балон пукна што пукна, 2002 беше, работа имаше сé помалку, сите мали фирми се затворија, така и малата агенција во која бев јас. Си заминав оттаму пред да гледам како болно се гаси, и отидов.. Реално, сите што беа строго ориентирани на сервиси, се мачеа со опстанок, но тие што беа ориентирани на производи и иновација, почнуваа да ја покажуваат насоката во која ќе се движи иднината.</p>
<p>По повеќе самостојни прокети, патот ме однесе во 2003 до Tangozebra, лондонски стартап за онлајн-рекламирање и маркетинг-солуции. Во тој период, нивните први, бета, производи веќе беа во продукција и сервисираа мал дел на пазарот на кој доминираше DoubleClick (денес Google) и Atlas (денес Microsoft).</p>
<p>Во текот на следните неколку години, базирано на многу иновација, истражување и развој, покрај другите стандардни алатки за менаџирање на онлајн-кампањи, на пазарот го извадивме ТАБС (Tangozebra Ads Building System) и работите почнаа да се развиваат многу брзо во наша полза.</p>
<h3>Корисникот пред сé</h3>
<h4>За новиот производ и за големите и малите риби</h4>
<p>ТАБС системот им овозможи на агенциите да произведуваат иновативни и т.н. рич медија онлајн-реклами во речиси рекордно време. Системот нуди Flash екстензија и веб-апликација за тестирање и публикување на креативите. Сé уште е во употреба и трпеливо чека да биде заменет од новата генерација апликации во развој.</p>
<p>Апликацијата ја развивме буквално околу секој детаљ во процесот на производство на онлајн-рекламиврз основа на барањата и со директно учество на нашите топ клиенти. Тоа повеќекратно ни се врати. Создадовме солуција не како што ние мислевме дека треба да биде, туку каква што издавачите и рекламерите бараа од нас да направиме.</p>
<p>Арно ама, во оваа индустрија важи една максима – “Кога не можеш да ги победиш, купи ги.” Double Click ја купи Tangozebra и се случи интеграција на најдоброто од двете компании. Во меѓувреме Google го купи Double Click, и приказната продолжува. Новиот производ се вика Ad Studio, и кон крајот на април оди во јавна бета, па тогаш и во детали ќе можам да разговарам за него.</p>
<h3>Информација во контекст</h3>
<h4>За трендовите во онлајн рекламирањето</h4>
<p>Денес се евидентни два главни тренда, што со анализа и истражување се покажаа како најуспешни во исплатливоста на инвестициите во онлајн-рекламирањето. За илустрација, дали навистина нешто ви значи ако посетувате кој било глобален блог или друштвен генератор на содржини, да речеме Digg (digg.com), и од десно ви е презентирана реклама за евтини викенд-авиолетови на компанијата ЕasyJet по Европа. Ако го посетувате сајтот од Македонија, тоа не ви значи ама апсолутно ништо. EasyJet не лета од Скопје. Ќе ја игнорирате рекламата затоа што вам лично не ви нуди ништо. Но, доколку ви е презентирана реклама за евтини викенд-летови до Истанбул со Turkish Airlines, тогаш вашите сензори ќе проработат &#8211; прво, знаете дека има летови Скопје &#8211; Истанбул, и второ рекламата е на кирилица. Што е сервирање информација во контекст со маркет-рекламирање.</p>
<p>Друг тип рекламирање е кога ви се нудат реклами поврзани со содржините што ги читате. Најчесто овие реклами се ненаметливи и презентирани само со текст. Но, сепак, за успешно рекламирање со овој тренд, јазикот во кој вашите содржини се напишани треба да е поддржан од сервисот што планирате да го користите, и пред сé да има рекламери што објавиле реклами на вашиот јазик. За жал, македонскиот јазик сé уште нема поддршка кај глобалните рекламни сервиси.  Издавачите користат комбинација на овие два тренда и со тоа ја зголемуваат профитабилноста на онлајн бизнис активности.</p>
<h3>Размислувај, иновирај, учи</h3>
<h4>За големото Google семејство</h4>
<p>Предноста да се биде поддржан од Google за она што го работите во однос на другите компании за кои сум работел претходно е во неограничените ресурси и поддршка што ја добивате за да го остварите тоа што сте го замислиле. Се разбира, во рамките на она за што сте вработени и платени да го работите, и доколку вашиот проект е одобрен и ги помине сите комитети за бизнис и иновација.</p>
<p>Тоа што особено ми одговара мене лично е што целата работна атмосфера ја нема изгубено искрата и духот на студентски камп. Сé е во постојано движење и константно учење. Тоа мене ми отвори врата да станам ментор во содржините во кои сум специјалист, веб-стандардите. Денес, покрај секојдневните работни обврски, одржувам и курсеви за младите гуглери.</p>
<p>Не би знаел да кажам дали има некој негативен аспект во филозофијата на компанијата за која во моментов работам, но и самите заклучете дали продуктите на Google што ги користите во секојдневниот онлајн-живот, како корисник или професионалец, му прават лошо или добро на човештвото. Не е едноставно да си број еден во светот, сите очи да се перманентно вперени во тебе и секој потег да ви се следи во детаљ и со внимание. Google има голема јавна одговорност со своите производи и постапки.</p>
<h3>Китка шарена</h3>
<h4>За македонскиот интернет-пазар</h4>
<p>Мое мислење е дека пејзажот на македонските интернет-содржини е многу шарен, многу вришти и е комплетно неефективен и хаотичен. Не зборувам за тоа колку Македонците користат друштвени мрежи и разменуваат сликички, зборувам за етаблираните сајтови на најголемите македонски издавачи, поточно новинско-издавачката индустрија и некои од поновите онлајн-медиуми. Не зборувам за содржините што ги нудат, зборувам за интуитивни кориснички интерфејси, квалитет на презентација и код, достапност и употребливост. И на крај, или на прво место, бизнис-ефективноста. Се разбра дека има и примери и професионалици што одлично си ја знаат работата.</p>
<p>Во декември 2008 со помош од Центарот за нови медиуми, блогот Комуникации.нет и Слободен софтвер Македонија организиравме мала конференција во културниот центар „Точка“, на која темелно ги разгледувавме овие теми и јас оставив поопширен коментар каде точно мислам дека се слабите точки и што треба да се направи за да се мрдне од нулта позиција, па ако имате време посетете го линкот за да не се повторувам тука <a href="http://tinyurl.com/dgkloj">http://tinyurl.com/dgkloj</a>.</p>
<p>Во кратки црти: агенциите, медија-планерите и издавачите треба да седнат на повеќе тркалезни маси и да ги договорат стандардите и алатките што ќе ги користат за успешно онлајн-рекламирање. Може и да поканат презентери од повеќе глобални сервиси да им презентираат како да ги спојат бизнисите во заедничка цел &#8211; заработка. Во овој стартен период за Македонија да фати чекор и да почне да профитира од онлајн-рекламирањето, потегот треба да се направи на ниво на индустрија, еснафски, не поединечно.</p>

<p>Today I canceled my iPhone deal with O2, swapped that one with normal one, getting same value plus unlimited 3g for my G1. Kudos to <a title="O2" href="http://o2.co.uk" target="_blank">O2</a>, they were very kind and useful.</p>
<p>Within minutes I was able to SSH and write to my WordPress (this) blog, manage photos and be in total sync and in touch with my colleagues and work account. Do I need to say more? And look how easy is to type this post from the nice keyboard.</p>
<p>Reasons? Way too many, here is just 3:</p>
<ul>
<li>Email client 100% better. I can read conversations, not unlinked piled emails.</li>
<li>Lovely Back button that treats whole experience as one session. If I read email and click on link, I will see the link in browser. Finished reading the link and when I click the Back button I&#8217;m back to my email. Awesome!</li>
<li>Total instant sync with my IM, Email, Calendar and Contacts</li>
<li>Multitasking!</li>
</ul>
<p>Bye iPhone, hello Android.</p>

<p>On Monday 22/12/2008, I will be part of <a href="http://newmedia.org.mk/diskusija-internet-aplikacii/">open discussion about Internet Applications, Web Technologies and Online Advertising</a>. The talk is taking place in Skopje, Macedonia. Organizers are Darko Buldiovski, author and blogger from <a href="http://komunikacii.net/">komunikacii.net</a> &#8211; a blog about everything new media in Macedonia, <a href="http://newmedia.org.mk/">New Media Center</a> and <a href="http://slobodensoftver.org.mk/">Free Software Macedonia</a>.</p>
<p>We are going to talk about developing web apps and how the latest web technology trends are applied particularly on the Macedonian web market. Also, I will be presenting my view on the online advertising in Macedonia and say a few words what the current state is in my opinion.</p>

<p>When I started <a title="London Today" href="http://londontoday.blogspot.com" target="_blank">this blog</a>, Blogger was baby. At the time, I thought will be cool to have mobile device to take photo and publish them somewhere to share &#8211; Flickr was not even born then. Was planing to do one myself, but hey, this is fast industry, it was already done.</p>
<p>Just using my Sony Ericsson phone at the time , with only 2mpx camera with VGA lenses, I started the <a href="http://londontoday.blogspot.com">London Today</a> blog using the option you can email photo to it. At the time ahead of time functionality.</p>
<p>Few days ago, I was wearing a Blogger t-shirt, and a friend asked am I fun or a blogger. I am blogger indeed and my primary blog is gz.sunsblog.net (the one you read now), but when I came back on Blogger and saw all my old posts, and finally holding that dream blogging device in my hand, in shape of iPhone, I decided to giv the blog a go again.</p>
<p>And wow, things changed. New web gadgets, advertising made easy using AdSense, all possible global social networking sites offer their own API to do whatever you need to on top of them. Felt easy to set up total new layout, UI is fast and intuitive, you can hook advertising and move on in minutes. Now the last and biggest problem of the all remains &#8211; content and visitors.</p>

<p>This is exactly the thought that crossed my mind when I saw this logo. On a closer look, I can read under the logotype &#8220;Technident&#8221; that this is actually laboratory for retainers, but even then, it&#8217;s extremely bad advertising for what dental care means. This business is in Palma de Mallorka, and I was walking the streets with my 5 year old daughter where we came across this door. She said in horror &#8211; &#8220;Dad, is this the place where they are taking your teeth out?&#8221;</p>
